This week in #BloemGirlsRock we profile Gali Hope Malebo, a beautiful and talented lady from Bloemfontein who started her schooling career at Kgato Primary and then the admirable Tsoseletso High School. She has a BA Honors in Drama and Theatre Arts that she obtained from the University of the Free State and also has a Business Studies certificate.

Gali is currently a theatre producer and director and specializes in Deaf Theatre. Sign Language has held a special place in her heart for a very long time and as soon as she became fluent in signing, she launched EL Deaf Theatre Productions. She is also a local actress and has featured in local theatre productions like Sophiatown – which showed at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State and has produced various shows including Signerella, a sign language twist on Cinderella. She also had the opportunity to work with Prince Kaybee on a poetry song called Revive Me.

When she has time to spare from her busy schedule, Gali also does MC work at various events in and around Bloem. In 2015, she was named as part of the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans for Arts and Culture. She has worked at a theatre for the deaf in Washington, presented her research in Athens and addressed the European Conference on Language Learning in the United Kingdom in 2015.

Gali is a Bloem girl that ROCKS because she went out of the ordinary and explored theatre for the deaf, which is something that is so easily overlooked in our communities. She has dedicated her time to understanding and raising awareness around the deaf community and she has become an expert in her chosen craft.😍💎
