Body Positivity
People often feel insecure about the size and shape of their bodies because of society standards.
Since the body positivity movement there has been a great shift from people (especially women) being insecure about their body very confident and positive about their bodies.
Kendra Cherry describes body positivity “as the assertion that all people deserve to have a positive Body Image regardless of how Society and popular culture view ideal shape size and appearance”
The main goals of the body positivity movement include changing how society views the body and accepting each body as different as it is ,it also cocuses on helping people build confidence and being comfortable in their bodies and address is unrealistic society’s standards.
We have been conditioned to believe that a person with a slim body is beautiful and healthy and that a person with a big body is not attractive and often unhealthy which is not always the case.
Some people gain weight due to health reasons and some people stay skinny or rather underweight due to health reasons as well.
Body positivity goes beyond how Society views people based on size and shape but also deals with judgements that are made based on race and other factors.
